Perinatal Mental Health

Perinatal: anytime during pregnancy through the first year postpartum

Becoming a mother is a transformative experience. It often brings up feelings that are new, uncomfortable or upsetting. You are not alone, as nearly every new mom experiences these changes. How do you know if you need support? If you are experiencing feelings of shame, guilt or helplessness. If you are experiencing constant worry, racing thoughts or having intense unwanted images. If you are experiencing anger, crying, sadness. If you are feeling uninterested in the baby, worry about the lack of bonding or are experiencing loss of pleasure in life, then you may be suffering from a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMADs). That is something I can help you with.

I provide emotional support for women and partners before, during and after pregnancy. This includes body image, partner intimacy and communication, labor anxiety, self-care and parenting support.

To learn more about perinatal mental health resources, Postpartum Support International has a wealth of resources, including books, groups and medication support.
